Eric Gjerde

Actually, it is very common in other parts of the world for airlines to push/sell/advertise on flights- many of the cheaper asian airlines actively give out samples of products and do marketing surveys on every flight. It's a good captive audience, who often will pay attention just because there is nothing else to do.

They also frequently sell things- if you want food, drinks, toothbrushes, etc it costs extra money paid on the spot. I'm quite OK with an airline selling items on a long boring flight, especially if it lets them subsidize my trip at the cost of my more spending-prone travelling counterparts.

Although I can imagine the flight attendants aren't too keen on the idea!

I think if I was a young, thin pretty flight attendant, I might use the opportunity to enhance my income, however. So perhaps it's not all bad for everyone.
