The problem is, anyone can call themselves a coach. I would strongly suggest you find someone who was trained in a program accredited by the International Coach Federation (www.coachfederation.org).

One of the tenets of coaching is that a coach needs to be "agenda-less"; he or she is there for the client, and can't let personal motivations get in the way.

Another suggestion is to take a sample session with the coach; most will offer a "test drive". That 30 or 45 minute investment can save you much anguish and wasted time and effort.
